Regulation underpins and impacts upon economic growth, investment, safety, environmental protection, innovation, productivity and competitiveness. In the energy sector the UK and Canada have world-leading regulatory expertise at national and sub-national levels. Different jurisdictions take different functional approaches to regulatory excellence thus offering interesting comparisons of how core principles are accommodated and how best practice operates.  This (invitation only) Regulatory Roundtable brings together leaders from the Alberta Energy Regulator, the new International Centre for Regulatory Excellence (iCORE), the UK Dept for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) and a number of UK regulators involved in the energy sector for a discussion of how the UK and Canada form and implement regulation, how difference agencies work together to offer an efficient service and how regulation can harness and promote technological innovation to deliver smarter regulation which is responsive to changing needs.
